SAMHSA has issued two new papers on integration of behavioral health care in specialty care settings such as oncology and gastroenterology clinics. One paper focuses on care for adults and the other pediatric populations. The two papers discuss examples of integrated care models, key components of integrated care models and examples. The goal of these papers is to help ensure patients in these specialty care settings have access to behavioral health care.

Measurement based care (MBC) for behavioral health care is a clinical process that uses standardized measurements to track a client’s progress over time that inform shared patient-provider treatment planning and decision-making. One significant challenge to the broader adoption of MBC is financing. This report uses analyses based on discussions with payers, policy makers, financing experts, and providers and an environmental scan to explore MBC reimbursement options and to identify challenges and potential solutions for increasing use of MBC across diverse community behavioral health care settings.

Designed for professionals involved in disaster behavioral health planning, this guide provides an overview of disaster behavioral health and the planning process, description of relevant resources, and phases of plan development. It also features a disaster behavioral health planning checklist.

Important Considerations in Recovery addresses trends and challenges in the recovery field, with a specific focus on providing guidance related to issues that may impact knowledge of recovery principles and practices across systems. The objective of this issue brief is to empower states and SSAs with information and prepare them to implement policies, funding strategies and mechanisms, and workforce development initiatives.

Advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access (DEIA) Principles in Recovery emphasizes the principles: DEIA; behavioral health equity; culturally and linguistically appropriate services; trauma-informed and resilience-centered care; and person- and family-centered care. It also provides introductory information and directs readers to recommended resources and examples of best practice recovery programs and services.

A Guide for Single State Agencies: Supporting Recovery with SUPTRS Block Grant Funding gives Single State Agencies and Authorities (SSAs), providers, and community partners an overview of recovery and RSS, a background on SUPTRS BG funding, and a review of state examples of how SUPTRS BG is used to fund RSS. Additionally, it provides guidance on new policies regarding allowable RSS expenditures through SUPTRS BG.

This report provides key findings from the 2023 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) on substance use, mental health, and treatment among the noninstitutionalized U.S. population aged 12 or older. Estimates are presented by age group and by race/ethnicity for selected measures.
